Da Nang is a vibrant coastal city in central Vietnam, well known for its beautiful beaches, modern lifestyle, and friendly atmosphere. The city lies between the blue East Sea and the Truong Son Mountains, creating a perfect balance between nature and urban life. Da Nang is also famous for its iconic bridges, such as the Dragon Bridge, as well as nearby attractions like Ba Na Hills and the Marble Mountains. With a clean environment, delicious local food, and a relaxed pace of life, Da Nang is an ideal place to live, work, and travel.
As a Da Nang resident for 17 years, I truly love this city—the people, the food, the landscapes, and literally everything about it. I have many unforgettable memories here, especially one time when I visited Ba Na Hills with my dad. Before talking about this experience, I would like to give you a closer look at Ba Na Hills.
Ba Na Hills
Ba Na Hills is a famous tourist destination located in the mountains west of Da Nang city. It is well known for its cool climate, beautiful natural scenery, and European-style architecture.
Golden Bridge
One of the most popular attractions there is the Golden Bridge, which is held by two giant stone hands.
Ba Na Hills’ cable car system
its cable car system, which is one of the longest and highest in the world. During the ride, visitors can enjoy breathtaking views of mountains, forests, and waterfalls from above.
Now I’m going to talk about a time when I went to Ba Na Hills with my dad. At that time, I was only seven years old, so my dad picked me up early from school to prepare for the trip. My family had been there once before, that was the first time I had ever taken a cable car, so I was really afraid of the heights.
Back then, my dad’s friends kept teasing me, saying that the cable car might fall and that wolves would eat me, which made me even more terrified. When I finally sat inside the cable car, I started to cry a lot.
So this time, when it was just my dad and me, he told me that I wasn’t allowed to cry. He promised that if I didn’t cry, he would buy me a toy after we came back from the trip.
So I agreed and made a deal with him. During the trip, we really enjoyed the food and the beautiful scenery there. Ba Na Hills at that time was quite different from how it is today—it felt more peaceful, natural, and untouched.
When it was time to take the cable car, my dad bought me a packet of snacks before we got into the cabin and reminded me of our deal. As a result, I tried my best to hold back my tears and my fear during the ride. When we finally reached the other side, I felt extremely happy and proudly told my dad about my success. And after the trip, he kept his promise and bought me a beautiful princess toy set.
To me, this is an extremely precious childhood memory. I rarely had the chance to travel alone with my dad, and as I grew older, we had fewer opportunities to talk and share things with each other. That is why I truly cherish these memories.
